Usage of USB connectors in different environments:
1. Corrosive environment
When using USB connectors in corrosive environment, the corresponding metal, plastic and coated connectors should be selected. If there is no anticorrosive metal surface, it will also lead to rapid degradation of performance.
2. High temperature environment
High temperature will destroy the insulating material, resulting in reduced insulation resistance and voltage resistance; high temperature will also make the metal contact loss of elasticity, accelerating oxidation and coating deterioration. Normal ambient temperature is - 40 ~ 80 C, which may be more demanding in special occasions.
3. Environment of Temperature Rapid Change
USB connectors may cause cracks or initiation of insulating materials when the ambient temperature changes dramatically.
4. The Rarefied Environment of air
Under the circumstance of thin air, the contact of plastic with polluted gas will lead to corona, decrease of voltage resistance, short circuit fault of circuit and deterioration of plastic performance. Therefore, in this case, the use of non-sealed connectors must be reduced.
5. Wet environment
Relative humidity greater than 80% is the main cause of electrical breakdown. Water vapor caused by humid environment will absorb and diffuse the insulator surface, which will lead to the reduction of insulation resistance. If it is often in highly humid environment, it will also lead to physical deformation, decomposition, escape products, respiratory effect and electrolysis, corrosion and cracking. In particular, USB connectors outside the device should be sealed in humid environments.
USB defines the following four transmission types
